November 2, 2010 Faux Bois
Faux Bois is a French term originally referring to furniture made to imitate wood branches, logs or bark textures. I like to apply this term to all sorts of modern day objects d’art, jewelry and interior design items seen in today’s marketplace.
Recently, a dear friend of mine gave me a wonderful tree necklace.

Which naturally led me to notice all the faux (and real) bois in my daily travels. Take a look at some of these fantastic creations.
MICHAEL ARAM’S Copper Bark Vase looks like a Birch tree Trunk.http://www.michaelaram.com
ECO-TREE colored pencils made of real bark! Available online at www.organicfundough.com/item_10/Eco-Tree-Colored-Pencil
MARTHA STEWART’s FAUX BOIS AREA rug for HOME DECORATOR’S COLLECTION http://www.homedecoratorscollection.com is a swell way to introduce faux bois to your abode.
And even a pendant lamp in a dark faux bois from LAMPS PLUS http://www.lampsplus.com/…/lights-up-faux-bois-dark-lamp-shade-12x14x10- spider__g7189.html is amazing! A light color version is also available.
And I must include a 1960’s faux bois dress-groovy. Available at ETSY. www.etsy.com/listing/…/the-woody–allen–faux–bois–dress
