Continuing with yesterday’s theme of wintry accessories, today’s blog is focused on an exploration of winter gloves.  So many options to choose from, so much fun to decide.  Let’s start by looking at Fingerless Gloves, a big trend for winter.  This is so exciting because you can layer a glove underneath to create interest with color or pattern to contrast or keep the colors similar for a tonal difference.

Made in Germany this wool version by Aqua $45 comes in 5 yummy colors.  Available at http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=496391&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-n-_-n-_-n

If the whole layering thing seems like too much effort, guess what?  You can fake it!  There are several versions of this glove that are “pre-assembled”. Juicy Couture leather Electronic Text Me gloves $78 available  at http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?

Long Gloves, once worn by lovely leading ladies like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, are a continuing trend for the past few winter seasons.  These can be worn with a sleeveless, short sleeve, or 3/4 sleeve shirt or dress or a 3/4 sleeve coat.  Choose a contrasting color to your garment to make the accessory stand out or choose a glove with a pattern.  Here are some great options:

This pair by JAS MB $155 available at http://www.barneys.com/Gloves/WOMENSGLOVES,default,sc.html

Extra long black stretch velvet gloves with side ruching aby Laundry Shelli Segal are a bargain at $20.95.  Find your pair at

Continuing my focus from yesterday’s blog on holiday shoes, here are my picks for the best holiday dresses featuring interesting details.

My favorite Los Angeles fashion designer, ROBERT RODRIGUEZ,  really knows how to create a beautifully detailed garment.  Take a look at this fabulous teal one shoulder dress with feather detail at the waist.  This silhouette is flattering for all figure types and most excellent for curvy gals.  Take note of how this is dress is styled with black leather gloves, lace stockings and black booties making this look rock.  Personally, I’d choose a big scale choker necklace with a reflective or sparkly quality like rhinestones, or lucite with lots of silver chain to complete this look for a holiday party.

VALENTINO’s nude dress with black lace details is stunning.

NANETTE LEPORE has a platinum colored cowl neck dress richly embroidered with tribal detailing.

L.A.M.B. has a cleverly detailed ponte knit dress featuring a collar and puffed sleeves of leather.  I love the contrast of the smooth leather against the textured knit.

It’s Halloween and my mind is on all the alluring and dark scents available in perfume or candle form.  I have three recommendations for you to peruse and discover what appeals to you.

If you are interested in a unique perfumerie check out Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab available online at http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com.

This website is wonderfully creative and unfolds like a surreal story with scents cleverly organized under various themes like Carnaval Diabolique and Bewitching Brews.  What could be more perfect for all hallow’s eve?

If you are in the mood for candle scents I recommend you visit http://www.DiptyqueParis.com for their Baies “Noire/Black” Berries candle $68.  While the scent is classified as fruit based, the candle container sets a dark and somber mood so fitting for today’s theme.

Go to http://www.jonathanadler.com for talented designer favorite of mine Jonathan Adler’s Muse Noir Candle $68.  It comes in an intriguing container that will last long after the candle has burned down.  The fragrance features plum and bergamot mixed with amber and vetiver.
